St. B's Parishioners on the Diocesan Mission Trip to New
Orleans
Between May 9 and May 18 Parishoners from all over the Diocese
of Western Michigan joined together to participate in a Mission to do
our part to help rebuild New Orleans.

From
St. Barnabas we sent (from left to right) John, Carl, Kari, Jim, Emma,
& Frank. During their time in New Orleans they worked with the
Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana's Office of Disaster response to help
them complete rebuilding projects for several families.

One of our groups two
main jobs was to finish the drywall for a family of eleven who are
living in a one-room garage on their lot until renovation of their new
home can be completed! The other was to complete the gutting demolition
of a home badly damaged during Hurricane Katrina, while reinforcing its
weakened frame at the same time.

Some members of
that crew got to spend the majority of the week under the house...

While in New
Orleans we were graciously host by the "Beacon of Hope" homecoming
center and by St. Paul's, an Episcopal Church who has become a leader
in revitalizing the Lakeside community.
